 Dementia Course

A specialized training course on dementia care can be a valuable resource for nursing assistants who are responsible for the care of individuals with dementia.

As the prevalence of dementia continues to rise, it's important to ensure that nursing assistants are well-prepared to handle the complex care required for these patients.

By providing comprehensive training, nursing assistants can feel confident and capable in their ability to provide safe and effective care for dementia residents.

Erin Bailey: B.S, LVN, CDP & Advocate

Erin's experience in the memory care industry has led her to recognize a significant training void among new caregivers. She has observed that most new hires lack caregiver and specialized dementia training, which leads to job dissatisfaction, caregiver burnout, and high turnover rates.

As a nursing student, Erin also noticed a lack of training on dementia and Alzheimer's care. Given the rapid growth of these diseases, a significant portion of nursing and caregiving is dedicated to the dementia community. Erin is passionate about helping caregivers succeed and find fulfillment in their careers, which is why she offers both onsite and virtual training.

Erin is the owner of Bailey Health Advocacy as an independent patient advocate for the dementia and geriatric population.

Why Invest in Dementia Training?

"Many families seek Memory Care units for their loved one that require advanced caregiver dementia training.

"Direct care workers play a vital role in caring for people living with dementia in private homes, adult day services, residential care, skilled nursing homes and other settings"

"Non-drug interventions in dementia care are greatly preferred over drug use"

Turnover rates are high in this workforce — estimated at 64% annually for direct care workers providing home care and 99% for nursing assistants in nursing homes.

"Advanced memory care training leads to lower mortality"

"An estimated 1.2 million additional direct care workers will be needed between 2020 and 2030 — more new workers than in any other single occupation in the United States"
